Want to start your day off in a great mood? Okay. I know what you are all thinking and I know how difficult it can be to wake up a little earlier than you usually do, but I have found that no matter what I have going on, if I take some time to do these simple activities, my mood is automatically boosted.
Need a reason to get going in the morning? I mean we all do. So no matter if you have a busy day or the whole day off, these tips will have you jumping out of bed in the morning and ready to start a great day!
Down bellow is what I do every morning to kick start my day. These do not have to be followed in the order they occur. I recommend to begin by trying all of these out and adding your own variation on these activities. The most important thing here is to have something to look forward to when you wake up.
- Set an alarm for 2 hours before any obligations. If I have to be at school, work, or just have errands to run, I make sure to allow my self two hours of “me time” before anything needs to get done.
- Drink water. As soon as your eyes are open, grab an 8 ounce cup of water and drink it. Not only is it refreshing and helps wake you up but it helps hydrate you from your nights sleep.
- A 30-45 minute workout. Now this is my favorite part of my morning, I have found that if I set aside time to workout in the morning it takes the stress off of me to have to include it after a hard day of school or work. In my next post I will include my go-to workouts.
- Read for 15 minutes. I usually read the latest article from my favorite news channel or pick up the latest self-care book. I am currently reading The Mindful Twenty- Something. Read something you enjoy whether it be a fiction book, news article, or a magazine. I do recommend staying off of social media as it can distract you.
- Get a bit of vitamin D. What better way to start the day then catching the sun rise or just getting some fresh air before you are stuck inside an office or classroom all day.
- 5 minutes of deep breathing. I find that taking some time to provide your body with oxygen and relax your muscles really allows you to think straight and start the day off stress free.
- Eat a nutritious breakfast. My favorite post workout activity is eating. Especially when it is breakfast. Get yourself excited to eat your favorite healthy foods. I personally opt for options like eggs, avocado, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and smoothies.
- Write a list of your tasks. Take time to write a list of all the tasks you need to complete. This helps to ensure you get all your tasks done as well as relieve any stress you might have thinking you may forget to do something.
